Terms of sale
These terms are not yet in force, and no subscription can be purchased today. Four items are missing, marked "to be completed" below: they depend on a legal entity that does not yet exist and on a consumer mediator that must be joined. Nothing will be written there until it is true.

1. Purpose and acceptance
These terms set out the rights and obligations of the seller and the customer when subscribing to the Quittes service.
They are accepted by the customer before any payment, through a box separate from any other. Subscribing means accepting the version in force on that date.
2. The service, and what is paid for
Quittes is a group expense sharing application. It is free and requires no account, with one exception.
Only reading a photographed receipt is paid for. It is the only feature that costs the seller money on every use, because it calls a third party image analysis service. Every other feature stays free: creating a group, inviting by link, entering and splitting expenses, changing currency, settling up, exporting a summary.
The subscription opens no other feature, lifts no other limit and removes no advertising, since there is none.
3. Acceptable use
Quittes is designed for expenses shared between people who know each other: a trip, a flatshare, a meal. It relies on trust within a group and provides no mechanism for arbitrating between members.
The customer must not use the service for fraudulent purposes, attempt to reach the data of a group they were not invited to, or disrupt its operation.
4. What the subscription includes
The subscription includes 40 receipt readings per calendar month, which do not carry over. That number is guaranteed for the whole period already paid for; it may change for later subscriptions.
One subscription key opens the feature for all members of the groups attached to it, up to five distinct groups per month. That cap protects the subscriber: it makes a key that has travelled too far unusable, without getting in the way of normal use.
Other members of a group have nothing to create, nothing to hold and nothing to pay.
5. Price
The subscription is offered at 2 EUR per month or 24 EUR per year. The yearly price is not a discount: it is exactly twelve monthly payments, charged once.
Prices may change at any time. The price that applies is the one shown when subscribing, and it stays unchanged for the whole period already paid for.
6. Subscribing and payment
Payment is made by card through the provider Stripe. The seller never sees the customer’s card details.
Before confirming, the customer can review the order and correct any mistake. Confirming concludes the contract.
7. Duration, renewal and yearly notice
The subscription runs for the period chosen and renews automatically for the same period, unless cancelled.
For the yearly subscription, under article L215-1 of the French consumer code, the seller informs the customer by a dedicated email, at the earliest three months and at the latest one month before the renewal date, that they may choose not to renew. That message states the cancellation deadline in a visible box.
Without that notice, the customer may end the subscription free of charge at any time from the renewal date, and sums paid after that date are refunded within thirty days.
8. Cancelling
The customer may cancel at any time, free of charge and online, from the "Your access" screen then "Manage or cancel", under article L215-1-1 of the French consumer code. No account needs to be created.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for: the customer keeps access until then. No pro rata refund is due for cancelling mid-period, apart from exercising the right of withdrawal.
9. Right of withdrawal
The customer has fourteen days from the conclusion of the contract to withdraw, without giving a reason and at no cost. They may use the model form in the next section, without being obliged to, or any other unambiguous statement.
If the customer expressly asked for the service to start before the end of that period, through the box provided when subscribing, they keep their right of withdrawal. If they use it, they will owe an amount proportional to what was supplied up to the point they communicated their decision.
If they did not ask, receipt reading opens at the end of the fourteen days. The subscription is paid from the moment of subscribing and its duration runs from then.
The refund is made within fourteen days of receiving the request, using the same means of payment.
10. Model withdrawal form
The customer may copy this form and send it to the seller. Using it is not compulsory.
To the seller, at the contact address shown above: I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the following service. Ordered on: .......................... Consumer’s name: .......................... Consumer’s address: .......................... Signature (only if this form is sent on paper): .......................... Date: ..........................
11. Receipt reading, and its limits
Reading a photographed receipt relies on a third party image analysis service. The result is an automatic transcription: it may contain errors of amount, description or currency, even on a perfectly legible receipt.
The customer is invited to check the proposed lines before confirming them. No split is recorded without their action.
When a reading fails for a reason attributable to the seller or to that third party service, it is not counted against the quota.
12. Currencies and exchange rates
When an expense is entered in a currency other than the group’s, an exchange rate is proposed from data published by the European Central Bank, then frozen at the date of the expense.
That rate is indicative. It does not necessarily match the one applied by the customer’s bank or card issuer, and the customer may correct it by hand. The seller is not liable for the difference between the rate shown and the one actually applied by a financial institution.
Not every currency is covered by that source. Where no rate is published, it is entered by hand by the customer.
13. Bank details and repayments between members
Quittes can display a transfer code meant to be scanned by a banking application. That code is built from the bank details entered by the member who is owed money.
The seller never checks that an IBAN actually belongs to the person who entered it. The customer must enter only their own bank details, and it is for them to make sure, by a means other than Quittes, of the identity of the payee before making any transfer.
Transfers are carried out by the members’ own banks, outside Quittes. The seller receives, holds and transfers no money between the members of a group.
14. Legal guarantee of conformity
The digital service is supplied in conformity with the contract. The seller is liable for lack of conformity existing at the time of supply and for any arising throughout the subscription, under articles L224-25-12 and following of the French consumer code.
Where the service is not in conformity, the customer may require it be brought into conformity and, failing that, obtain a price reduction or terminate the contract.
15. Availability, interruptions and suspension
The service is supplied without a quantified availability commitment. It may be interrupted for maintenance or because a provider fails. The seller informs customers of significant interruptions where they can be foreseen.
The seller may suspend the access of a customer using the service in breach of the "Acceptable use" section. Such a suspension is notified and reasoned, and gives a right to a refund of the unused paid period if it turns out to be unjustified.
The free features of Quittes, other than receipt reading, work without a network connection: an interruption prevents neither entering, nor calculating, nor viewing expenses already on the device.
16. The subscription key, and losing it
The subscription key is produced by the customer’s browser and never sent to the seller, who keeps only a cryptographic fingerprint from which it cannot be reconstructed. That is what guarantees that a breach of the seller’s data would give access to no subscription.
The direct trade-off is that the key cannot be recovered. The seller can neither find it nor send it back, because the seller never held it. A customer who loses their key keeps their subscription and can have a new one issued from their billing area.
This characteristic is disclosed to the customer before payment, on the subscription page.
17. Intellectual property
The seller grants the customer a personal, non exclusive right to use the service for the duration of the subscription.
Content entered by the customer remains theirs. The seller uses it for no purpose other than providing the service.
18. Personal data
Data processing is described in the privacy policy, reachable from every page of the site. The customer has the rights provided by the General Data Protection Regulation.
19. Liability
The seller is liable for damage resulting from a breach of its obligations, under ordinary law. Nothing in these terms may reduce the rights the customer holds under law as a consumer.
Split and balance calculations are provided as a tool. They create no obligation between the members of a group, whose relations depend on their own agreement alone.
20. Complaints and mediation
Any complaint may be sent to the seller, at the contact address shown at the top of these terms. The seller undertakes to answer it.
Failing a solution, the customer may use a consumer mediator free of charge.
21. Changes to these terms
The seller may change these terms. The version that applies to a subscription is the one accepted when subscribing.
A change takes effect for an existing subscription only at renewal, and after prior notice to the customer.
22. Governing law and language
These terms are governed by French law. A consumer customer keeps the right to bring proceedings before the court of their place of residence.
An English translation is provided for convenience. In case of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.
